Q. How do I obtain a PowerSchool logon (userid/password) to access my student's grades?
A. New parents to the district are mailed a notification letter with the PowerSchool logon for their child along with a brochure that explains the PowerSchool capabilities. If lost or never received, please email ParentConnect@leesummit.k12.mo.us, providing your name/address/phone # along with your child's name and school. A new letter will be mailed to you. For security reasons, we do not email logon information to parents.

Q. May I change my PowerSchool password?
A. No, the system randomly generates the passwords and these are non-changeable.

Q. If I lose my logon information for PowerSchool, what should I do?
A. Please send an email to ParentConnect@leesummit.k12.mo.us stating you have lost your logon information. Include your name/phone number/address, and your child's name and school so we can route your request to the proper building. Your logon information will be mailed to you. If proper identification is not submitted, we cannot provide an answer.

Q. I receive the "Login page expired (or cached). Please re-login" message. What do I do?
A. You may receive this error after your first attempt to log in. Click the refresh button in your browser and try again.

Q. I'm having trouble logging on. Do you have some suggestions?
A. Please check the following options first:

  • The most frequent problem parents have is the system not accepting the username/password combination. PowerSchool passwords are a combination of letters & numbers. Please enter your password exactly as it was spelled in the letter from your child's school. Sometimes a capital "I" looks like a one "1", a capital "B" looks like an eight "8", a capital "O" looks like a zero "0", etc. Please try various combinations before reporting a problem.
  • We recommend using Internet Explorer as your browser.
  • Try logging on from another computer. Computer settings may be different from one computer to another.
  • If you continue to have trouble logging on, send an email addressed to ParentConnect@leesummit.k12.mo.us, providing the following information:
    - your name and phone number, your child's name and school, and the exact error message you're receiving. A school district employee will get back with you. If proper identification is not submitted, we cannot provide an answer.

Q. Why will I have a different logon for each of my children?
A. The PowerSchool logon assigned to you takes you directly to one child's information. Unfortunately, we do not have a way to allow one logon to be entered, then provide you a choice for which of your children's information to display. We apologize for this inconvenience but this is a limitation in the software.

Q. May I view my child's grades online at any time or is it limited to just certain times of day?
A. Parent access to PowerSchool is available 24/7 (24 hrs/day, 7 days/week).

Q. May the non-custodial parent see the child's grades?
A. Yes, the parent notification letter sent from your child's school can be mailed to both the custodial and non-custodial parent.

Q.May I request progress reports be emailed to me? If so, how?
A. The following reports may be requested and automatically emailed to parents:

» Summary of current grades and attendance
» Detailed reports showing all assignment scores for each class
» Detailed report of attendance
» School announcements (when available)

To set up the request for electronic reports, please see the Email Notification section on the Instructions page.

Q. What is the proper procedure to follow if I have questions regarding my child's grades in a class?
A. It is best that you contact your child's teacher directly, either by email or voicemail. This will result in the quickest resolution to your question.

Q. Why does it bring up the logon screen every so often when I'm in PowerSchool?
A. PowerSchool requires parents to re-logon after 60 minutes of inactivity. Simply logging back on returns parents to the active screen they were on.

Q. What do the column headers A1, E1 and S1 mean (or A2, E2, S2)?
A. The numbers 1 & 2 represent the semester (1=semester 1, 2=semester 2).
A1/A2 represents the student's current grade as reflected in the teacher's grade book right now. E1/E2 represents the semester exam (taken at the end of the semester). And, S1/S2 represents the semester grade.

Q. I've added up the total number of points my student has accumulated in a class and divided it by the total points possible and come up with a different grade than what's showing in PowerSchool. Will you explain?
A. This difference is probably related to the weighting applied according to the weighted grading scale in place. Tests and quizzes may be weighed differently than homework and projects.

Q. When will elementary school parents be able to view students' grades and attendance?
A. PowerSchool is not available to parents of elementary students at this time as teachers are still using hardcopy gradebooks.  Parents of elementary students will receive notification along with logon information when it is made available.

Q. I have a question that is not covered on this Frequent Asked Questions page. Who should I contact?
A. Please email your question to ParentConnect@leesummit.k12.mo.us
